Hi, new friends,

I am Stacey LP. It’s great to e-meet you!

Like Amanda, I am also an up-and-coming indie author. I have been writing poetry, songs, creative non-fiction, and fictional stories for as long as I can remember. Reading has always been one of my favorite activities, so naturally, I decided to pursue English Literature in college and through grad school. Fair warning: if you get me started talking about one of my favorite books, I won’t be able to stop. When I’m not writing, I love going to pop-punk shows, hanging out with my husband and kiddos, or chillin’ with my cats and dog.

I am super excited to share a bit about my debut novel, Afterglow: Rising From the Ashes with y’all…but first, let’s talk about how Amanda and I met. Who doesn’t enjoy a good origin story, right?

As you can imagine, new authors have a lot to learn about the world of independent publishing. So, when I decided I wanted to get serious about writing my first novel, I did what any other millennial would do—I hopped on social media to scream, “haaaalp!” into the void.

Independent publishing is definitely a ‘figure it out as you go’ type of situation with so many different paths—it’s easy to get lost in the process. Thankfully, the indie community has been so warm and welcoming—so many authors are more than willing to jump in and help navigate this wild world.

Speaking of wild worlds…let me tell you about the world of Afterglow!

Afterglow: Rising From the Ashes (book one of the Afterglow Rising Trilogy) is a dystopian post-apocalyptic sci-fi novel. The idea for Afterglow actually started in a group chat with my friends. We were talking about the types of stories we wanted to read and eventually landed on post-apocalypse storylines. There are a ton of movies, TV shows, and books that explore the ‘during’ part of an alien invasion…but we kept coming back to what happens after? What does a recovering society look like? And that’s where Afterglow starts…

Afterglow is set in Austin, TX, following the aftermath of an alien invasion. For months, invaders terrorized Earth, capturing, killing, and forcing anyone who remained to live on the run.
