Life & Writing Updates

Spring Is Here!

I don’t know about you, but I love to have windows open and let some freshness in after being cooped up. Florida winters are mild, despite our snow storm this year, and we even had the perfect beach day recently. Normally it would be the time for spring cleaning. However, we’ve finally secured the details of our move back to Texas!! So instead, we’re purging.

March 16th, 2025 Amanda Marquardt

Before we moved into this house, we were a family of four, living in an RV. We “moved” to Florida without any inkling that we’d be here with any kind of permanence. Then I got pregnant. And no way was I adding another kid into that space or bouncing around doctors, so we got a rental here. And then I got pregnant again. 😆

Six months turned into four years, and while our little unit really loves a minimal lifestyle, the outdoors and exploring, and experiences over things, our families have a really hard time with this when it comes to birthdays and holidays. So the house feels like it’s overflowing and I have twenty-two days to prepare for this move. With four children, while writing, and with my husband away for two of the three weeks we have left. 🙃

This is fine. It’s totally fine.

Writing Updates

So what does all of this mean for writing? I anticipate a change in my personal publishing timeline, but I’m hoping to still get everything done that I have planned for this year.

I’m currently wrapping up my dark, sapphic romance short story for the Rage Is My Love Language anthology. You can find out more about The Trevor Project, which the anthology will benefit at www.thetrevorproject.com. The anthology is available for preorder on Amazon, and I’ll be sharing my short with newsletter subscribers as well.

I’m also working on book one of the Bull Creek series. These two still have me in the dark on a few things, but I think you’re really going to love Boy Scout and Wild Thing’s story. Assuming I get to write again.

If you’re a fan of cozy, holiday novellas, I also have one in the works which I hope to publish this fall. While I like to build in lots of real life scenarios, tension, emotional journeys, and more into my novels, this holiday novella promises to be a swoony, “easy” story, perfect for a holiday read.

Oops, we did it again!

Last year, fellow indie author, Elle Ashwell, and I had release dates one day apart. You may have read her book In Full Bloom, Wildflower Ridge Book One at that time.

Well, as we moved into to the new year, we discovered that we accidentally (happily) did it again. Wildflower Ridge Book Two, Coming Up Roses, published the same time as When the Smoke Clears!

"What's complicated about a bit of fun between two consenting adults?"

Abigail Fletcher finally has her life together. There's just one thing left to do: reconnect with her five-year-old daughter, Sadie, who she left three years ago, her anxiety telling her Sadie would be better off without her.

Moving to the small town of Kauri Creek, Abi lands an incredible job as an event manager at Wildflower Ridge, the same property where Sadie lives with her dad, and they family they now call their own.

Determined to prove she's a capable, reliable and loveable parent, Abi throws herself into work and building connections with Sadie and the people in her life.

But she never bargained on Flynn Woods, the charming farmhand who seems hellbent on getting her to loosen up. He's everything she's not; easy going, relaxed, sure of his place within his found-family, and when neither can deny their attraction, their friendship quickly develops into more: some no strings fun in the bedroom.

Despite his influence on Abi's life, not even Flynn can protect her from her own mind, or his ghosts, and the pair will need to decide if they're willing to open their hearts to each other, or figure out a way to continue being 'just friends'.

Preorder Update!

All preorders have been sent! There were a few things that made this take longer than I had planned, but I’m glad to say they’re on their way to where they need to be.

First and upcoming!

This past weekend, I attended my first book signing at Page and Palette in Fairhope, Alabama. It’s a fun place with a cafe, bar, and live music. I loved being able to discuss books, not just mine, with people coming in and out.

I’m looking forward to my signing on March 29th at Books by the Bay Fest in Pensacola. If you’re in town, come visit me from 12pm to 2pm at the Author Signing Tent. You can find me at table 8A.

I hope all of your reads this month are five stars! Thank you for being here!

XOXO, Amanda
